BIO
Odessa Newman
Odessa Newman is a fourth year BFA candidate in dance at California State University, Long Beach. She has been immersed in the dancing world since she was very young and began her serious dance focus when she moved to Berkeley, CA at the age of twelve. It was here where she grew to fall in love with improvisation, modern technique, and the cultivation of her own yoga and movement practice. Odessa's short-term goals post-graduation consist of a yoga teacher training retreat to obtain a teacher’s certificate in yoga, and long-term to find a graduate program that fits her desires to delve deeper into fiber and studio art. Since being at Long Beach State, Odessa has costumed a few pieces of work that were student and faculty produced. Since these processes, Odessa has fallen in love with fiber and costuming and hopes to continue this work throughout her life in conjunction with movement art.
